WBCSD: Enabling corporate plastics disclosure : Building a plastics protocol

With the global issue of plastic pollution taking center stage, this report focuses on the introduction of a plastics protocol designed to enhance corporate performance and accountability in accordance with the International Legally Binding Instrument (ILBI) on plastic pollution.

This report emphasizes the establishment of global standards for plastic accounting, goal-setting, and action planning, targeting both plastic leakage and circularity. The protocol outlines three key building blocks: Accounting and assessment, ambition and action.

The proposed protocol serves as a pivotal component of the emerging Corporate Performance and Accountability System for plastics, aiming to assist companies in setting baselines, defining targets, creating roadmaps, and reporting relevant plastic-related data.
