What the CSRD Omnibus Means for Your Sustainability Strategy
The CSRD just got simpler—but that doesn’t mean companies can afford to wait. In our latest article, we break down what the 2025 Omnibus simplification package means for reporting obligations and why now is the right time to act. From plastic footprint risks to market pressure, we outline what forward-thinking businesses should be doing today.

Now Open for Consultation: The Plastic Pollution Mitigation Action Framework (PAF)
The Plastic Footprint Network (PFN) just released the Plastic Pollution Mitigation Action Framework (PAF)—a structured approach to define, categorize, and account for plastic mitigation actions, both within and outside of a company’s value chain.
Inspired by the logic of climate mitigation and Net Zero frameworks, the PAF distinguishes between direct reductions (attributional actions), system-level change (consequential actions), and plastic recovery. It responds to both the growing urgency of reducing plastic leakage and the clear need from corporates, credit providers, and disclosure platforms for a shared framework to account for mitigation efforts.
The PAF is now open for consultation. Throughout April, the focus will be on feedback from PFN members and partners, with a broader consultation to follow.
If you’d like to contribute feedback, please contact: contact@plasticfootprint.earth
Your insights will help shape the PAF ahead of its finalization later in 2025.

When good intentions go wrong: Bio-based plastics and the need for holistic assessment
Bio-based plastics seem like an obvious solution to the plastic crisis—but recent research shows they may cause major unintended harm, including deforestation and land-use conflicts. In this blog, we explore why life cycle thinking is essential and how the SPHERE framework helps companies avoid these pitfalls. It’s a reminder that sustainability needs systems thinking—not shortcuts.

Survey – Measuring Impact on Upstream Plastic Waste Reduction
As part of a project with the World Bank, Earth Action is developing a new methodology to account for the impact of upstream solutions — such as plastic substitution, reuse, and refill systems.
We’re gathering input from brands, financiers, and innovators to ensure the methodology is practical, credible, and truly reflects on-the-ground realities.

Survey – Supporting CDP Plastic Disclosures
We want to hear from you!
As we continue supporting companies on their journey to better plastic footprint disclosure, we’re launching a short survey to understand where the biggest challenges lie when responding to the CDP Plastics Module.
Your insights will help us tailor our tools and guidance to what matters most.

Survey – Building a Competency Center for Reuse
Reuse: from intention to action – Share your input
We’re building a Competency Center for Reuse (CCR) in Vaud to support companies in transitioning toward circular, low-waste models. To ensure the initiative truly meets the needs of local businesses, we’d love your input.
Take the 3-minute survey
Whether you’re already working on reuse or just exploring it, your feedback will help us identify the biggest opportunities — and the barriers we can help remove.
We may follow up for a quick conversation, especially if you’re open to sharing more or co-developing pilot projects. Let’s build this together!
